Do’s and Don’ts for Fourth Year Rotations

#fourthyearproblems

Fourth year is hard, guys. You go from seeing patients a few days a week as a third year to seeing patients all day, every day. You have to seriously adjust your life and lifestyle due to these changes, and it’s a rough adjustment. Here are a few do’s and don’ts that I learned from my first fourth-year rotation.

DO:ย Dress professionally for clinic each day. Every clinic and school has their own policy, use your best judgement.

DON’T: Go to your apartment for lunch break and come back wearing flip flops.

DO: Take care of yourself by eating right, exercising, and doing chores around the house.

DON’T: Eat cereal for dinner every night.

DO: pack your lunch and your bag before you go to bed so it will be ready in the morning.

DON’T: Leave your BIO at an external clinic.

DO: Review charts at the beginning of the day and research anything you need a refresher on.

DON’T: Leave your charting until the end of the day and get behind on patient logs.
