Doesn’t it get frustrating when you start off scoping the wrong meridian when performing retinoscopy? However, don’t think of that as time completely going to waste! Here’s a quick tip:

Start neutralizing your new meridian and count how many clicks on the phoroptor it takes you to get there. The number of clicks it takes to get to your new neutral translates to the amount of cyl you should expect to add on that eye, since the cylinder power is the difference between the power of the two meridians.

This simple tip will especially help you on your clinical assessments when there are tiny time-constraints!
