SECO is one of our favorite conferences and is taking place February 28 to March 4, 2018 in Atlanta, GA. Will you be there? If you are still on the fence, registration is FREE for students! On top of top notch CE, an exciting Exhibit Hall, and free student events, SECO also gives each student a $100 cash stipend for attending! Make sure to check out these student events:

Student Lounge (Exhibit Hall): Be sure to drop in at the Student Lounge inside SECO’s exhibit hall. This gathering place is where you can meet up with friends, plan your day, and pick up your cash stipends on Saturday To receive your stipend, you must bring your SECO badge and a photo ID in person to the Student Lounge ONLY on Saturday, March 3 from 3:00pm-4:00pm.

Student Escape Room Adventure presented by VSP Global (Thursday, Friday, & Saturday, Exhibit Hall 100 Aisle): Test your optometry knowledge as you work together searching the room to find clues, solve riddles and crack codes to accomplish the goal of escaping the room within the hour. Up to 10 students can play together. Space is limited so reserve your spot with your team now or in person at the Student Lounge.

Bad Habits – Eye Docs of Rock Charity Event & Student Party benefiting Optometry Cares, sponsored by HOYA (Friday, 9pm-midnight, College Football Hall of Fame): Bring your SECO badge or your student ID to get free drinks and access to a special student lounge with VIP seating, fun games and a dedicated bar during this exciting event. The Bad Habits – The Eye Docs of Rock, a band of optometrists, will be performing along with special guests as we raise money to support Optometry Cares – The AOA Foundation.

AOA+ Leadership Link (Saturday, 7:30am-9:00am, Omni Hotel at CNN Center, International Ballroom D on M2 Level): Optometric leadership from states across the SECO region are participating in AOA+ Leadership Link for this special event. AOA+ Leadership Link will help you make the transition from optometry student or recent graduate into your role as a doctor of optometry. Leadership from the great southeastern states and the AOA Board of Trustees will be there to guide you and be a resource for you. Register here. Breakfast will be served!

Free Student Lunch Symposium (Saturday, 12:00pm – 1:15pm, A411/412b): Enjoy a free lunch and presentations from industry leaders, network with industry leaders, and interact with optometry students from across the country. There is an opportunity to win a $1,000 scholarship from SECO International just by attending this event! You must be present to win, so remember to register.

Student Focused Practice Management Courses (Saturday, Practice Management Education Theater): Check out Starting Cold Versus Buying a Practice (1:15pm-2:30pm) & Student Debt: The Numbers Actually Work in Your Favor (4:00pm-5:00pm).

Student Happy Hour, hosted by VSP Global (Saturday, 7:30pm-8:30pm, Omni Hotel at CNN Center, International Ballroom AB): Happy hour is our favorite hour of the day. Enjoy free food and drinks and meet special guests Dr. Mark Wright, associate professor at OSU College of Optometry and CEO of the Practice Management Center, and Bob Schultz, CEO of Vision One Credit Union.
